Celebrating excellence in cross-border investigative journalism in Europe
The IJ4EU Impact Award is the annual award of the IJ4EU programme. Each year, it honours cross-border investigative journalism in Europe with three cash prizes of €5,000 each.
It encourages journalists to work collaboratively across frontiers in European countries that have signed up to the full cross-sectoral strand of the European Union’s Creative Europe Programme, which provides core funding for IJ4EU. IJ4EU is also co-supported by Adessium Foundation, Fritt Ord, Stichting Veronica, Isocrates Foundation, and the Free State of Saxony.
The award is managed by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF). It is also supported by the International Press Institute (IPI) and the European Journalism Centre (EJC).
Each year, an independent jury selects three collaborative, transnational investigations for three prizes, each worth €5,000. The winners are announced during IJ4EU’s annual UNCOVERED Conference in the autumn.
Journalists, news organisations and cross-border teams can nominate their investigative projects using our secure Good Grants platform. Applicants are encouraged to read the full eligibility and application details below and to consult the relevant section on our frequently asked questions page.
Nominations open each February for eight weeks. Exact dates are announced in advance on our websites as well as via our newsletters.
