Laura Margottini is a science investigative journalist in global health, tobacco, environment and scientific misconduct. Her reporting has driven concrete policy change and public awareness—including withdrawing substandard drugs from the market and exposing tobacco misinformation. She has co-authored peer reviewed scientific papers in medical journals, stemming from previously published investigative work. She has been at the Global health team at The Bureau of Investigative Journalism (TBIJ) for 4 years and worked at multiple cross border investigations. Her work has been published by Science magazine, Stat, New Scientist, The Guardian, Il Fatto Quotidiano. Her work has been awarded over a dozen international prizes, including the American Association for Cancer Research AACR June L. Biedler Prize for Cancer Journalism, the Association of British Science Writers (ABSW), Steve Connor Award for Investigative Journalism, One World Media Print Award.
