Magdalena Bandera

Magda Bandera holds a degree in Journalism from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB). She is co-founder and director of La Marea and Climática, Spain’s first media outlet dedicated exclusively to climate change. At La Marea, she has promoted investigative journalism; one of these investigations received El Confidencial‘s National Investigative Journalism Award in June 2026, shared with two colleagues.

Specialised in gender issues, her work has also been recognised with the Women’s Press Prize (2017), the Good Practices in Non-Sexist Communication Award (2019), and a Special Mention from the Catalan Institute for Human Rights in 2020.

Previously, she worked for La Vanguardia and Público, and has collaborated with El Periódico de Catalunya, TV3, Catalunya Ràdio and RTVE. She is the author of several books, including Hijos de guerra (Children of War), on countries affected by economic embargoes.
