Michael Anthony is a geospatial entrepreneur and co-founder of Vertical52, a journalist-led initiative developing satellite-powered verification infrastructure for public-interest journalism. He began his career as a reporter in the Middle East and later led public- and private-sector initiatives applying Earth observation to climate resilience and financial inclusion across Asia and Africa. Today, he works at the intersection of journalism, geospatial intelligence and AI, collaborating with newsrooms, researchers and satellite providers to expand independent access to orbital evidence.
At the UNCOVERED Conference, he is part of the Vertical52 Satellite Data Helpdesk, advising journalists on how satellite imagery and other Earth observation data can strengthen investigations and verify claims.
