Nikola Budzińska is a Warsaw-based freelance investigative journalist and lawyer reporting across Central and Eastern Europe. Her work focuses on human rights, environmental conflicts, borderlands, and cultural heritage. She combines field reporting with legal analysis and open-source research. Her cross-border investigations have been supported by IJ4EU and Journalismfund Europe. She is currently investigating how Russia uses archaeology and cultural heritage to legitimise its occupation of Crimea, including illicit excavations, heritage destruction, and questions of accountability.
