Europe’s leading conference for cross-border investigative journalism
This year’s IJ4EU’s conference will be hosted by the iMEdD International Journalism Forum in Athens.
Back for a fifth year, IJ4EU’s UNCOVERED Conference will join forces in September 2024 with the annual gathering of the Incubator for Media Education and Development (iMEdD) in Athens.
The conference will take place as part of iMEdD’s International Journalism Forum, a three-day gathering of journalists exploring topics ranging from press freedom and artificial intelligence to data journalism and climate reporting.
The UNCOVERED Conference, organised by the European Centre for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), is scheduled for 25-26 September, kicking off a day before the iMEdD forum in the industrial chic of Athens’s Peiraios 260 venue.
The first day of UNCOVERED will be restricted to registered guests of the conference, including grantees from the latest round of IJ4EU funding, allowing a frank exchange of lessons learnt from cross-border collaboration.
The second day will be open to attendees of both UNCOVERED and the International Journalism Forum, which runs September 26-28, 2024. Separate registration is required for guests who would like to attend the second day of UNCOVERED on 26 September as well as the rest of the International Journalism Forum on 27-28 September. The partnership between UNCOVERED and the International Journalism Forum is designed to allow a cross-pollination between the two events, bringing together the respective communities of IJ4EU and iMEdD.

IJ4EU IMPACT AWARD
Celebrating cross-border investigative journalism in Europe
The UNCOVERED Conference will close with an awards ceremony on September 26 for winners of the IJ4EU Impact Award 2024. Like the conference, the awards ceremony will be hosted by the iMEdD International Journalism Forum.
With a pot of cash prizes totalling €15,000, the annual awards celebrate excellence in investigative journalism carried out by teams collaborating across borders in Europe. The award is managed by ECPMF, a partner in the IJ4EU consortium.
WHAT IS UNCOVERED?
UNCOVERED is the annual conference of the Investigative Journalism for Europe (IJ4EU) programme. It is an opportunity to showcase the best investigative journalism that Europe has to offer and to discuss the challenges faced by those working to shine a light on stories affecting millions across the continent and beyond.The conference is organised by ECPMF, together with IJ4EU consortium partners the International Press Institute, the European Journalism Centre and Arena for Journalism in Europe. It is funded by the European Commission.
